Its been a couple weeks...spoiler statute waived.

My Favorite part came down to a simple exhange between Lauda and his new mechanic at Ferrari after his first lap in the Ferrari F1 car...

Mechanic: "How was it?"
Niki Lauda: "It's Terrible. Handles like a pig"
Mechanic: "You can't say that" (whispers)
Niki Lauda: "Why not?"
Mechanic: "It's a Ferrari" (loudly)
Niki Lauda: "It's a s***box. It understeers like crazy and the weight distribution is a disaster. It's amazing, all these facilities and you make a piece of s*** like this"

Had me in stitches...I imagine that's what the Mclaren 12c guys said after they got out of the 458.

So what was your favorite?

PS Anyone find it ironic that McLaren then went on to be "technical" car brand where Ferrari went for "passion"?...The companies seemed to take on the indentity of their rival drivers...

I really like it when they meet at the end by the plane.

I liked the part where the aliens came and reigned terror on the world. Thanks to Will Smith and the Jurassic Park guy, the world was saved! At least I'm pretty that's what happened in Rush, ahhh tomatoe, tomato.

I really enjoyed the final scene with Niki talking about flying and comparing it to racing, and how it teaches discipline

I love the hitch hiking scene. Kind of romantic and plenty funny.

Lauda driving the Italians around in the country, the looks on their faces were much like the valets' in Ferris Bueller's Day Off

As gory as it was, the scene where they were suctioning his lungs and he told them to do it again. He was a courageous mofo.

When Lauda passes Reutemann in his race after the crash, I almost got up and cheered, in a movie theater

I really enjoyed the scenes where Hunt realized Hesketh was no more and him struggling to find a new ride for the upcoming season. Those and his anger and passion at the car being deemed illegal sort of showed that beneath his party hard facade, he really was a serious racer deep down.

That was my favorite scene too, because I had heard in the mid-70's to mid-80's that Ferrari chassis's weren't exactly the greatest.

I thought there were several great scenes and I can't wait to watch it again.

That movie was I think my wife and my third post-baby movie date (almost a year already!), and she really enjoyed it... enough that she has watched parts of Senna with me, and further she liked the Lauda character (she's an engineer like myself so go figure) and has been quoting the 'this is a disaster', 'are you using magnesium', and 'the car's a pig' parts months later. She even wondered aloud if those were real quotes. She liked the italian fanboys scene too, as did I.

For myself - Both Lauda and Hunt came alive quite nicely, but honestly my first-watch impression was that just a little bit more screen time could have been given over to actual racing (but I may revise this opinion after a re-watch). Nevertheless the Lauda scolding whomever scenes and Hunt vs. tech inspection scenes were great.

Overall though I have to say the real genius of the film is that it worked for my wife, and I imagine other, not-quite-but-almost-gearhead types also. The last time a guy movie worked this well for her was World's Fastest Indian which is also a great story about an interesting guy in addition to a well-executed film.
